WIN a trip to the Olympic
Stadium next April for
your school!

Are you ready to go for Gold? Get your school involved
in the build up to London 2012 by taking on Olympic
and Paralympic sports to raise funds for vital medical
research into child health.

Challenge your pupils to cover 2012kms by running, walking, cycling,
swimming, kayaking… just choose your sports and commit to raising funds
for Action Medical Research.

Register before the end of November to be in with a chance to take part in
the Gold Challenge Stadium Parade in the Olympic Stadium.

To get you started, they are offering a free sports kit to those schools who register on line. The kit will arrive in Sept 11 and will give you the chance to play some of the following Paralympic sports: Goalball, Sitting Volleyball and Blind Football.

The School Games will officially start in September 2011, where a number of competitive sports will involve young children from year 3 to 13 taking part.

It will consist of 4 levels:

• Intra school competitions
• Regular local interschool competitions
• Annual area/county multi sports school games festivals
• National multi sport events.

The club, available to those aged 13-19, is a joint initiative between the Youth Support Service and Leisure Warrington and will offer street dance and sports.

It has been kitted out with a TV, games consoles and music equipment after funds were raised by young people once the old Culcheth Lane youth club was sold in 2006.

Chairman and treasurer of the former youth club, Clr Keith Bland and Clr Sue Bland have also donated £2100 to the project.

Clr Keith Bland, deputy leader of the council said, “I am delighted to see the money that these young people work so hard to raise put to good use.

“This is a fantastic facility and I am sure it will benefit a great many people for many years to come.”

The opening times are from 7.30pm until 9.30pm, and also provides advice, guidance and socialising.

Interest in Sportshall athletics has grown over the last few years, thanks to the repeated staging of the Y5/6 event.  A year 7 / 8 event is also due to run, which will be useful for secondary schools looking to identify talented athletes in the run up to the summer season.

More details regarding the Warrington School Sport Partnership’s Sportshall Athletics Final is to follow shortly.

They will take on all-comers at Came Downs Golf Club in Dorset on July7 after becoming the most successful school in the history of the Lancashire Matchplay Golf Championships.

Culcheth successfully defended their title at Grange Park Golf Club, St Helens, adding to a previous win in 2005.

The team of Ross Hunt, Sean Blinkhorn and George Scott beat Holy Cross College, Bury and Lancaster Royal Grammar School to once again be crowned Lancashire Champions.

The reigning champions ran out 3-0 winners in the Final.

Scott lead the way with a three and two victory, which Hunt followed up with a two and one win to secure the title.

Blinkhorn then completed an impressive victory by reversing his morning score to win by one hole in another tight match.
