To get you started, they are offering a free sports kit to those schools who register on line. The kit will arrive in Sept 11 and will give you the chance to play some of the following Paralympic sports: Goalball, Sitting Volleyball and Blind Football.

The School Games will officially start in September 2011, where a number of competitive sports will involve young children from year 3 to 13 taking part.

It will consist of 4 levels:

• Intra school competitions
• Regular local interschool competitions
• Annual area/county multi sports school games festivals
• National multi sport events.

The event was organised by Competition Manager, David Quartermain and the cluster schools involved were:

Interest in Sportshall athletics has grown over the last few years, thanks to the repeated staging of the Y5/6 event.  A year 7 / 8 event is also due to run, which will be useful for secondary schools looking to identify talented athletes in the run up to the summer season.

More details regarding the Warrington School Sport Partnership’s Sportshall Athletics Final is to follow shortly.

Congratulations to all who represented Bruche in the “Road to Wembley”

The whole team had a fantastic time and played some fantastic Rugby during the day. Congratulations to the Woolston Community Primary Rugby team and their teachers for all their efforts.

For the first time, St. Peters RC Primary were invited to take part and joined teams from Bruche Community Primary, Woolston CofE Primary and Woolston Community Primary in the competition.

Graham Corkin and many others from Woolston Rovers JFC delivered a very successful event and were on hand to coach the teams with the help of the KS4 Woolston High School leaders.

Alongside the main competition, many children took part in a  mini football festival, where they were able to develop their football skills and take part in some competitive games with one of the School Sports Partnerships’ multi-skills coaches – Mel Sapia and some Year 10 leaders. Dance also featured on the day, with the Year 11 Dance Captains choreographing a dance which the children learnt very quickly! Their performance at the presentation of certificates was fantastic.

The KS4 leaders each selected a Most Valuable Player for their team – so congratulations to all who were chosen for their contribution to the team.

Congratulations to St. Peters RC Primary who won the competition and to Bruche Community Primary who finished as Runners-Up and go onto represent the Woolston cluster in the Warrington final on the “Road to Wembley.”

Bruche Community Primary, Woolston Church of England and Woolston Community Primary entered two teams each into this competition, which was run very successfully by the KS4 leaders from the high school and Chris Newman from the Wolves Foundation and Lymm Rugby club.

The Year 10 volunteers, Year 11 Rugby Sports Captains and Sports Leaders worked tirelessly throughout the morning t0 give the children the experience of inter-school competition. They did a fantastic job in their roles as referees and team managers. Alongside the main Rugby competition we held a festival of Rugby, where pupils could improve their Rugby skills and play some mini-games, receiving coaching from the Sports Leaders and the Wolves coach. In addition this year, some of the Yr10 girls provided a morning of dance for the pupils, before performing the routine learnt throughout the morning at the awards presentation.

In all it was a successful morning.

Congratulations to the Winners – Woolston Community Primary School, whose team went onto represent the Woolston cluster in the Warrington final and to Bruche Community Primary who were Runners-Up for 2009/2010. Also congratulations to the Most Valuable Players for each team, selected by each of the KS4 team managers.

The Year 11 dance Sports Captains delivered some Spanish dancing at Woolston Community Primary School as part of the schools’ Language Day.

Around 70 KS1 pupils experienced some Spanish steps with their teachers to the sound of the Spanish beat.

All had a great time as they performed their final dance piece to each other in front of these talented dance leaders, presenting them with a signed card to show their appreciation.
