Warrington School Sport Partnership is constantly striving to identify, deploy and support quality sports coaches across the town. Below are some of the coaches and Development Officers we regularly work with.
Andy Roberts
Andy is a multi-skills and badminton coach (to name a few of his many sports) who works across the town supporting the development of multi-skills clubs for primary aged pupils. He also organises and runs the School Sport Partnership’s Multi-Skills Academies, which aim to help older primary pupils who are demonstrating an early talent in sport to understand how to make the most of this and to develop themselves further.
Mel Sapia
Mel is a multi-sport coach whose main role is to deliver and develop activity in the Great Sankey Extended Services Cluster.
Mike McGreal
Front man for the ‘Healthy Heroes’ programmes and a local partner for ‘Change for Life’, Mike is a multi-sports coach and qualified teacher who delivers a variety of activities across and beyond the town. Mike is currently running a fun skill and activity club for KS1 pupils held at Penketh High School every Wednesday after school.

Dan Curtis
Dan is the founder of Active Hope, a charity which uses adventure activities and Christian values to make a difference to young people. Dan is a qualified primary teacher and holds a number of coaching and leadership qualifications (for example in orienteering, canoeing / kayaking, climbing and mountain biking) which help him to deliver Active Hope’s programmes, including the very successful ‘Which Way Now?’ project.
Neil Gibson
Neil is the Community Sports Coach for the University of Chester. He is a qualified secondary age teacher, and also trained to coach in a wide range of sports, including multi-skills, football, volleyball, rugby, cricket, rounders, karate and ju-jitsu. Using his tutor status for Sports Leader UK Awards, he delivers leadership courses to young people aged 14 and above, and supports University students on the sports coaching degree to undertake placements in schools and in the community.
Laura Baines
Laura Baines is a Gymnastics Development Coach, jointly employed by England Gymnastics and the Warrington School Sport Partnership. Although only starting in post in September 2009, Laura is enthusiastically looking forward to working with clubs and schools to improve gymnastics opportunities for young people from across Warrington. Laura is an experienced gymnast herself, specialising in the Rhythmic Gymnastics discipline, which she has been involved in for many years.
Tim Coleman
Tim is the Tennis Development Officer for the Cheshire LTA (Lawn Tennis Association) who works out of Birchwood Tennis Centre. In his role he coaches in schools and helps to organise the mini-tennis red competitions organised every year.
John Wilkinson
John Wilkinson leads the Primary Link programme for the Warrington Wolves Foundation. The Wolves Foundation (the Charity arm of the Warrington Wolves Rugby League Club) is hugely active in the town.
Paul Flannery
Paul Flannery is a qualified rugby and football coach, and works within the Fitkidz project, which focuses much of its work in the Bewsey / Whitecross area of the town. Paul is a member of the Warrington Arts and Sports Engagement Team.

Get Qualified NW is a funded programme helping individuals gain qualifications across the Sport, Outdoors and Health & Fitness sectors. It is a fantastic opportunity to receive real financial support for your training. This programme is also open for employers who have a group of staff who would benefit from upskilling.

Fran Hawley is the cluster coach for the Penketh and Cuerdley cluster.
