WARRINGTON Athletic Club held the first of its three annual Schools Cross Country League meetings at Walton Hall Gardens on Saturday.

Lauren Goddard claimed first prize in the Primary Schools event, followed home by Lauren Ferris and Emily Fell, while Jack Evans won the boys event, chased home by Benji Mullarkey, Daniel Fox and Fergus Grogan.

Amy Renton took gold in the Year Seven race, with Olivia Bush and Annabel Martin finishing in second and third respectively, while Will Parsons won comfortably from Kiro Smithyman-Harding and Billy Young.

In the final race, for Years 10 and 11, Sophie Bates claimed gold, with Emma Scott and Rebecca Coy in second and third.

Jack Gleave won the boys event, beating Chris Smith and Henry Buttress to the line.

The other rounds of the league will be held on Saturday, November 20 and Saturday, December 11.
