On Friday 25th September, William Beamont CHS played host to Warrington Table Tennis Club as they treated pupils to an exhibition performance, involving table tennis stars from across the county.
The Cheshire County champion, an ex-European Champion (John Hilton), an ex-Scottish champion (Brian Kean), an ex-Paralympian and a representative from the 2009 Youth Games (disabled table tennis) were all in attendance, and did a great job of enthusing the watching students with a skilful and witty display of the sport. Brian was particularly entertaining, as he challenged John to a match, dressed in odd shoes, long spotty socks, a flat cap and bermuda shorts! Even with his unusual choice of bat (a frying pan), he still managed to play a decent rally!
Anyone interested in playing table tennis with the club at William Beamont CHS Sports Hall on Fridays between 7 and 9pm should contact Sue Harper via the Community Manager ( Siobhan Griffin) at William Beamont on 01925 579500.
