The 5th March saw the delivery of a great Y5&6 Sports Hall Athletics County Final at the Northgate Arena in Chester. A really good (and very noisy) atmosphere that lived up to the billing.

Andrew Steele one of GBs Olympians from Beijing attended as the Star guest which inspired many of the young people. (It’s a good job he can run the 400m because he’s not very good with the foam javelin!)

A big thank you to the Sports Hall Athletics Team led by Kevin Hill and to Keith Hancock for his work on the mic. A massive thanks also to the sports leaders from West Cheshire College; the Chester SSP & South Cheshire College who preformed brilliantly.

Thanks also to the members of the CMT that attended for all their hard work as well (and Roger any news??)

The results:

1st: Ashdene 282pts (Macc); 2nd Charles Darwim 254 (Vale Royal); 3rd Barrowhall 228 (W’ton); 4th Leighton 226 (Crewe); 5th Overleigh 202 (Chester); 6th Hermitage 198 (Sandbach); 7th Statham 182 (W’ton); 8th Our Lady’s 172 (E Port).

Congratulations to Ashdene who retain their 2009 crown as Y5&6 County Sports Hall Champions for 2010.

Roll on next Thursday for the High School Finals where we have all 8 SSPs represented at Y7 and Y8 boys and girls for the first time.
